"Bella?" I asked, my voice tight, controlled.
"Yes?" Her voice was still rough. She cleared her throat.
"Give me a reason," I implored her, angrily, through my clenched teeth.
"A reason?" she asked confusedly, "A reason for what?"
"A reason I shouldn't fire you right now. What were you thinking Bella? How could you let this happen?"
